Lead RBT Professional Development Certificate

Lead without the title. Stay inside your scope.

Your team already watches how you work. This program makes that influence deliberate.

Built for RBTs who peers turn to first, it trains you to model treatment integrity, support teammates on routines and logistics, document objectively and escalate to the BCBA at the right moment, without ever drifting into supervision.

Why this program

Influence without authority is still influence

Most clinics have an RBT everyone relies on. Without clear guardrails, that influence can strengthen the team or erode it. This certificate gives it structure.

The go-to RBT

Peers bring you questions every shift. Some are operational. Some are clinical decisions that belong to the BCBA. Telling them apart in the moment is a skill.

Good intentions, wrong lane

Approving a "small" plan change, signing off a peer's skill or guessing at function feels helpful, and quietly puts clients, peers and the clinic at risk.

Drift spreads

When an experienced RBT skips a step or rounds the data, newer staff copy it. Integrity is modeled long before it is trained.

No path forward

Strong RBTs often have no structured way to grow into leadership while they are still on the floor.

The Lead RBT role

Clear about what you do, and what you never do

Every lesson is written to one scope line. You will practice it in scenarios until it is automatic.

Within the Lead RBT role

  • ✓Model the written plan with high fidelity in your own sessions
  • ✓Support peers on routines, materials, transitions and logistics
  • ✓Report objectively: what happened, when, and how often
  • ✓Escalate safety, ethical and clinical concerns to the BCBA promptly
  • ✓Help new team members find their footing
  • ✓Keep confidentiality and professional boundaries visible

Outside the Lead RBT role

  • ✗Supervise, evaluate or sign off on a peer's competence
  • ✗Change, approve or "adjust" any part of a treatment plan
  • ✗Interpret the function of behavior or diagnose
  • ✗Give caregivers clinical recommendations
  • ✗Count as BCBA supervision or fieldwork hours
  • ✗Replace your clinic's policies or your BCBA's direction
