For BCBAs and clinical leaders: deliver Level 1 with BST fidelity, score practitioners to one calibrated standard, review every override, and correct ethical drift before it becomes culture. Non-physical leadership and certification-authority credential.
About this course
If Level 2 is weak, certification becomes symbolic. Assent-Based Safety Training, Level 2 (Certified Supervisor) prepares supervisors to train, evaluate and calibrate assent-based safety within their organization — so the standard holds across every staff member, session and site.
Who it's for
BCBA supervisors, clinical directors, program managers, APE coordinators and lead trainers who train, evaluate and sign off on Level 1 practitioners.
What you will learn
- Module 1 — Supervisor role & ethical authority: supervisor ethical authority; liability, oversight and decision ownership; documentation review and override justification.
- Module 2 — BST for assent safety: foundations of Behavioral Skills Training; modeling non-physical safety skills; feedback, error correction and remediation; fidelity scoring and inter-rater calibration.
- Module 3 — Case debrief & system correction: the post-incident debrief protocol; pattern detection and ethical drift analysis; system-level correction and policy refinement.
Inside every lesson
- Instructional video and audio deep dive with slide guide
- BxM Training Manual with executive discussion prompts
- Interactive worksheet reviewed by the BxM instructor
How certification works
Certification is earned by calibration, not attendance. You must complete all 10 lessons and worksheets, pass the Supervisor Calibration Exam (85% or higher), submit the written calibration tasks, and pass a live calibration session with a BxM evaluator at 90% — case defense, mock BST delivery, and scoring within 10% of the master key — with no critical failures. Up to three attempts are allowed, with remediation between attempts.
Certified supervisors may deliver Level 1 training, conduct Level 1 certification, score performance and sign off on practitioner credentials. Certification is valid for 12 months; annual recalibration is recommended.
What Level 2 is not
Level 2 is a non-physical leadership and certification-authority credential. It does not teach or authorize restraint, holds or physical control techniques, and it does not replace your agency's policies, state regulations or BACB requirements.
